And for continued documentation purposes, Tessa had one of her roughest seizure days yet, last Thursday 5/1/2014. I say roughest, because we aren't aware of any illness at this time that would be causing the increased frequency of seizures...they seemed to hit her out of the blue. From what we know, she was having about 10 second-ish seizures off and on from around 11:30 a.m. to about 3:00 p.m. We administered a Diastat late that afternoon to slow the frequency, but still don't know at this point how many she suffered that day. She also had a bigger one tonight right before falling asleep. She was almost asleep and then suddenly let out a big cry and was inconsolable for about 15 minutes...between the 10 to 15 minute mark we started seeing some physical signs that she was seizing. Her legs were bowed out and tense and her upper body was strangely tense. You could tell something had a hold of her.
Our hearts break for her every time we watch her go through this. It is the absolute worst. Tessa has her 6 month follow up appointment with her neurologist, Dr. Norman on Tuesday afternoon at 2:30. We have been praying that we will be able to effectively communicate what we've been watching Tessa deal with and that we can walk away from the appointment with a new plan to help our sweet girl.
I wanted to create this summary of how her seizures have evolved over the last 5-6 months to help us show the doctor.
