Intercession and Encouragement

Wednesday, August 4th: We got to talk to Whitney this morning. She and Darin desperately needed restorative sleep last night and once again God gave them what they needed. I just got a text message from a friend of mine who is on her knees praying for Tessa and for Darin and Whitney. She said she was up at 4:30 a.m. praying, but did not have any idea that her prayers in the middle of the night were being offered at such a God-designed moment-the very night that sleep was desperately needed. I got another text from a friend who said that she has people from Virginia to Alabama to South Texas offering prayers on their behalf. It does my heart so good to know so many people are invested in this journey through prayer.

Whitney expressed this morning that every time a person contacts them and lets them know that they love them and are praying for them it spurs them on to be able to handle the next hurdle. I want to help Whitney express that to all of you who are reading this blog and wishing you could help in some way. This is how you can help! When you are thinking about Darin and Whitney and praying for Tessa, let them know. Let them know they are not alone in their suffering and grief. Let them know that in their weakness and stress and extreme fatigue that you in your strength and clarity of thought are interceding on their behalf! They will probably not be able to respond immediately to you, but they will do their best to at least say thank you. Please know that their "thank you" is not a casual "thank you"! It is from the depth of who they are-their relationship with Christ-that with all sincerity they appreciate and cannot do without your involvement in this way!

Whitney wrote in an email, "Thank you again for all of the love, support and prayers...they are carrying us through every moment of every day."


As I am writing this post, 2:30 p.m., a doctor from The Children's Center is supposed to be meeting with them and discussing more details about the Center. We are hoping to hear from Whitney following their meeting to find out what this next step involves. They hope to be leaving the hospital today following the meeting to take Tessa to The Children's Center for an observation period.
